You are expected to act maturely on these forums. Starless Summer does not tolerate flaming, bullying or anything of the kind. You are not required to be an adult by any means, just conduct yourself maturely. It is okay to "sound" a bit younger so long as you are not causing any kind of trouble. Our staff will act as an adult and as such we expect you to do the same. Behaving maturely means that a certain level of swearing is also not allowed; namely, we do not allow you to name call, meaning you may not call anyone a "faggot" or "retard" or anything else that may be taken offensively. If you are not sure, do not do it. If this becomes a large problem, a list of disallowed words will be provided. Asking that you behave maturely also means that we are asking you to not inquire about people's personal lives or ask for their information.
It is considered immature to be disrespectful, so do your best to be respectful. If someone is rooting for a different baseball team than you, do not start insulting their team; move past your differences or don't talk to each other. Being disrespectful will not be taken lightly.
Behaving maturely also means you are expected to not spam. You should be able to edit your post, and as such, we do not tolerate more than 2 posts in a row. This means no "bumping" topics. The only exception to this rule is where it is required for a game. Game hosts should specify that it may be required in their first post. Spamming can include, but is not limited to:
- One-word posts
- Posting in the incorrect area
- Advertising ( more on this later )
- Posting an entire post in another language
- Chain Posts/Letters
- Making an entire post
like this
02 : Be Literate
Starless Summer does not expect perfect literacy from every user present and nor does it expect everyone to have English as a first language. However, we ask that English is the language you speak here because we are an English site. If English is not your first language, simply try your best, and don't be afraid to ask for help if you think you need it. We will allow mild chatspeak, including but not limited to "lol" or "tbh". We ask that you do not write an entire post in chatspeak. You do not need to capitalize all of your letters in your sentences, and you do not need to use commas. We ask that you avoid run-ons, as they can get messy and confusing, but this is not required.
As mentioned in the previous rule, posting an entire post in a language that no one on the staff team understands is not okay. If we do not know what you are saying, that's a problem, because you could be being insulting to someone else, or breaking any number of rules. A few words in another language here or there are allowed, however, (for example, saying bonjour instead of hello is perfectly acceptable).
03 : Art Rules
If you are an artist looking to share your art, that is perfectly fine. We enjoy seeing all forms of art. However, any kind of pornography/nude art is unacceptable. This means in writing, photography, traditional art, etc. Any of this that is posted will be removed immediately.
04 : Advertising and Affiliates
Starless Summer is open to having affiliates. If you would like to affiliate, please join the forum and message an administrator for more information. This is one such way that is considered acceptable advertising. Do not, under any circumstances, make a post with the purpose of advertising. It is understood that many sites reward you for referring people, so if you are looking to refer people, put the link in your signature. If you do not want to affiliate, but would still like to advertise, put the link in your signature. Your signature is the only place that is considered acceptable for advertising if you are not affiliated with Starless Summer. Mentioning a site in passing is not considered advertising; if you are talking about roleplay groups and casually mention yours, that is perfectly fine. However, it is considered spamming to make a post in a board about roleplay groups asking people to join your group.
If you are looking for something to join, please do not make a board about it, because that is considered asking people to advertise, which is also not allowed.
05 : Mini-Modding
Mini-Modding is when YOU, as someone who is not a moderator, acts as a moderator. This means that if someone spams, you tell them not to spam. We ask that you do not do the moderator's job for them. If someone is breaking a rule, report them.
